About Jolene

I am a mother of twins and the wife of a Heavy Equipment Fire Operator with Cal Fire, who also was a Captain with Lockwood Fire for over 6 years.  We have called Amador County our home for over 10 years now.   I hold an AA Degree in Business Administration and a certificate in Paraprofessional Accounting.  I was a bookkeeper for a large construction company for over 14 years where I was responsible for all financial aspects from banking to contract reviews.  Previously, I volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors for Lockwood Fire Protection District, then served as Administrative Officer for Lockwood as well as the Treasurer for the department for over a year.  During my previous time with Lockwood, I served on many committees such as Fiscal and Planning.  Most currently I am volunteering as the treasurer for our local Youth Football League.

After graduation of high school I attended MTI College in Sacramento. I entered their AA program in Business Administration program in August of 1998. In October of 1998 I received at paid internship with Caltrans at their headquarters in Sacramento. While I was in class I would work an average of 20 hours a week and during breaks 30+ hours a week. I was the assistant to a purchasing administrator. Our job duties including tracking and assignment of vehicle identification numbers for all items purchased throughout the state. Ensure all documents where prepared according to the guidelines. Then transported all documents to the departments for sign off. After the first year of college was completed, classes where switched to night. I continued my internship, as well as, started Consumes River College to study accounting. 3 days a week I took classes in the morning, as well as my classes in the evening to complete my degree program. In 2000 graduated with my AA degree.

Shortly after graduation I received a full time position as a bookkeeper for a trucking company in West Sacramento. Some of my responsibilities where account receivables, payables, payroll for 10 employees, bank reconciliations, quarterly state and federal payroll reports, quarterly state fuel tax reports and yearly DOT inspections records.

In January of 2003 I received a bookkeeping position for a large home builder closer to home. My duties started out with the basic account receivables, payables, bank reconciliation and payroll for over 20 employees. As the years went on so did the responsibilities, duties such as homeowner warranty claims, preparing of project contacts for venders, reviewing of invoices against contract pricing, amortization and tracking of mortgages loans, and yearly tax forms such as 1099, 1098 and W2 forms where added. In 2007 the owner purchased a golf course in Valley Springs. He then requested I split my time between both locations. My duties at the golf course were account payables, bank reconciliation, payroll of over 40 employees, and general office help to the general manager.  After 14 years of commuting, I decided a change was in needed.

In August of 2017 I received a position as an Instructional Aide the Special Education Department of Amador County School District. This has been quite a change, but every bit rewarding as my prior job. With a less hours worked and commute time, I am now able to give back more.

I have volunteers for different positions and boards over the course of living in Amador County. For 3 year I volunteered for Amador Cooperative Preschool, included weekly time in the class room, monthly board meetings and assisting in their yearly fundraising events. I served about a 2 year term on Lockwood Fire Protection District Board of directors. Then switched to Administrative Officer and treasury for over a year.  Currently I’m volunteering as the Treasurer for a youth football league here in Amador County and have been doing so for over a year.
